Plymouth Rock Youth Lacrosse’s registration for Indoor “Learn to Play” Lacrosse clinics is now open online at plymouthrocklacrosse.com. New for winter 2012 is Plymouth Rock Youth Lacrosse’s “Learn to Play” program similar to the popular Little Rocks program. This program is for both boys and girls in grades K through 2. There will be eight weekly sessions from 5 to 6 p.m. beginning Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Jungleplex in Plymouth. Program cost is $75 (U.S. Lacrosse membership is not included). All players must be a U.S. Lacrosse member. All players must provide their own sticks and mouthpieces.
Indoor lacrosse skills clinics
Plymouth Rock Youth Lacrosse’s registration for winter indoor skills clinics is now open online at plymouthrocklacrosse.com. Winter indoor skills clinics are for boys in grades 1 through 8. The clinics are at the Jungleplex in Plymouth and are open to players of all levels of ability from Plymouth and surrounding towns. There will be eight weekly sessions beginning Saturday, Jan. 14, with U9 and U11 running from 5-6:30 p.m. and U13 and U15 running from 6:30-8 p.m. Program cost is $100 (U.S. Lacrosse membership is not included). Spring lacrosse registration
Plymouth Rock Youth Lacrosse’s registration for spring 2012 is now open online at plymouthrocklacrosse.com. The spring programs are for both boys and girls in grades K through 8 during the 2011/2012 school year. Registration is open to players of all levels of ability and from Plymouth or surrounding towns that do not have youth lacrosse programs. Spring programs offered are as follows.
Little Rocks Spring 2012: Eight-week “Learn to Play” Program for both boys and girls grades K-2. Sundays from mid-April through mid-June. Sticks and mouthpieces only. Program cost (including U.S. Lacrosse membership) is $65.
Boys and Girls Spring 2012: Traditional spring program for boys and girls in grades 1 through 8. Teams generally practice two or three nights per week and play games on Sunday. Programs begin around March 1 and run through mid-June. All participants must be U.S. Lacrosse members and have proper lacrosse safety equipment. Program cost (including U.S. Lacrosse membership) is $155.
Note that all registrations for boys and girls teams (U9, U11, U13, U15) received after Jan. 15 will be assessed a $25 late fee. Team size is limited to the first 25 players to register, so don’t wait.
Junior Olympic Archery Program
The Monument Beach Sportsman’s Club of Bourne is marking the fourth anniversary of its Junior Olympic Archery Program. JOAD is a program of USA Archery (a division of the U.S. Olympic Committee) that is designed to teach archery to young people, over a series of classes taught by a certified archery instructor or coach. JOAD offers both recurve and compound archers the opportunity to learn range safety and proper shooting technique in an environment that also fosters focus, increased self-confidence, and team building skills. JOAD is open to any youth archer aged 8 to 20 and is designed to grow with the youth archer. The Club’s introductory JOAD classes teach the fundamentals of proper shooting form; as the young archer develops, they will learn more advanced techniques.

The 33rd annual Pan Mass Challenge is set for Aug. 4 and 5, 2012. Registration opened online Jan. 10 for PMC alumni and Jan. 17 for newcomers. For more information about the PMC, which is presented by the Boston Red Sox Foundation and New Balance, visit pmc.org.The PMC is the most successful athletic fundraising event in the nation; it raises and contributes more money to charity than any other. Last August, cyclists from eight countries and 37 states rode one of 11 routes that ranged from 25 to 190 miles. Riders included seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong, Massachusetts Senators John Kerry and Scott Brown, 350 cancer survivors, and avid cyclists and weekend warriors alike. Many rode in support of loved ones being treated for cancer or in memory of those who have been lost to the disease.
